Details:
Ordinance 1022 took effect on January 18th and expires on February 16th unless extended by the Council.
The ordinance allows citations to be issued to patrons who are not following the masking regulations.
As of January 28th, the percent positivity rate per the Johnson County dashboard was 24.6%, with an incidence rate of 1,437 cases per 100,000 people.
The cities of Mission, Prairie Village and Fairway have passed similar masking ordinances, set to expire between February 16th and February 23rd. Mission and Prairie Village plan to extend their ordinances until March 16th. It is recommended that Roeland Park do the same, as consistency across jurisdictions will likely encourage more masking.
